Asbestos To Be Removed From Norfolk Island

It is hoped crates of asbestos building up at Norfolk Island's tip could soon be shipped to the mainland for disposal.


About 60 tonnes of the hazardous material has been removed from homes and buildings and stored at the waste centre since 2004.


The island's Community Services Minister Timothy Sheridan says it needs to go through quarantine before it can be brought into Australia.
