Firefighters battle heavy smoke and presence of asbestos at factory fire in Heatherdale Rd, Ringwood
April 28, 2014 at 2:49 PM
Fire Services communications controller Keith Robinson said crews were called to the small factory on Heatherdale Rd, Ringwood at about 5.30am.
Emergency services faced difficult conditions on arrival, with firefighting efforts hindered by heavy smoke and limited access to the building.
Rescue units were called in to cut open the building’s roller doors to allow firefighters better access to the blaze.
Asbestos was also detected at the site, forcing crews to implement protective procedures.
It took 30 firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Mr Robinson said the cause of the fire was being investigated by police.
